(Avoca, IA) AHSTW boys track is now getting ready for state track after a good state-qualifier meet in Treynor last Thursday. The Vikings had a good night with three automatic qualifiers during the meet but finished with seven overall after the official times were released.
Head coach Jackson Renberg is very satisfied with sending seven events to state track.
Sophomore Collin Harder will head to state for the first time in his career running in the 1600-meter run and the 4×800-meter relay.
Renberg thinks Harder deserves it after all of his hard work.
Luke Sternberg qualified in the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter dash, where he has the second-fastest time in the state. This will be the junior’s second appearance at state track and first in the 400-meter dash.
The Vikings had five solo qualifications and two relay qualifications in Treynor and four seniors amongst those qualifications including Gavin Newcomb, Nick Denning, Seth Pope, and Caleb Hatch. For all but Newcomb, it will be their first state track appearance.
The Vikings will participate in events on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. For the full 2A boys state track schedule click HERE.
