(Ames, IA) – The Iowa State men’s basketball team will be battling in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament for the 23rd time in program history. They’ll be the #2 seed in the tournament in the East Region for the games in Omaha.
Iowa State will be taking on #15-seeded South Dakota State on Thursday. The last time that these two teams faced off, Iowa State lost that battle in the 2020-21 season when the Cyclones went 2-22 that season compared to their current 27-7 record this year. The Cyclones have reached the 10 NCAA Tourneys since 2012 which is just one of 10 teams in the tournament to do so.
In just the third season as Head Coach, T.J. Otzelberger has led Iowa State to the NCAA Tournament. The only other Iowa State head coach to do the same was Tim Floyd in his first three seasons as head coach. This will be his fifth appearance in the NCAA Tournament as a head coach, as he formally led South Dakota State, the team Iowa State will face off against, in 2017 and 2018. He will now go against his former team in the first round of the tournament.
Only Cyclone Club members who aren’t men’s season ticket holders will be eligible for tickets. Tickets will cost $120 or $90 for the first-round game and will only be in games that Iowa State is in. You will automatically be charged for the second-round game if Iowa State wins and will not be charged if the Cyclones don’t make it to the second round.
Iowa State will play this Thursday against South Dakota State at 6:35 p.m.
