(Undated) — An online platform hopes to help rural communities address mental health issues and farm stress issues.
Many organizations and nonprofits are partnering to create the Farm Family Wellness Alliance. Terri Moore of the American Farm Bureau Federation says the resource is definitely needed in order for mental health to become more inclusive.
“One of the challenges in the mental health arena is that we have national hotlines, but those counselors may not understand rural America. Life is very different in rural America, and so the psychology of helping someone in crisis in rural America is different,” said Moore.
Those living in rural areas can get anonymous mental health and wellbeing services online at www.farmfoundation.org/resources .
