(Harlan) Harlan’s high-low game helped lead Harlan to a 54-36 win over Atlantic at Harlan on Tuesday night.
The Cyclones’ two six-foot post players, Erica Rust and freshman Kenzley Bruck scored 28 of Harlan’s 54 points. Bruck, at the high post, provided the inside presence. Rust led Harlan with 20 points, and Bruck came off the bench and scored 8. Aubrey Schwieson scored 13, Molly Swensen 5, Hannah Sonderman 3, Kara Kenkel 3, and Ava Monson added 2.
Makenna Schroeder led the Trojans with 12 points, Paytn Harter with 8, Maddie Richter with 6, Claire Pellett with 4, Lila Wiederstein scored 4 points, and Brynn Lamp with 2.
Harter scored four, and Lila Wiederstein came off the bench and added four points to boost the Trojans to a 10-9 first-quarter lead. Hannah Sonderman and Aubrey Schwieso found the range from beyond the arc, and 6’2 freshman Kenzley Bruck came off the bench and scored six points to push the Cyclones to a 23-15 lead. Maddie Richter countered for the Trojans with two three-point baskets to keep the deficit to five 25-20 Harlan at the half.
Harlan finished the third quarter on a 10-2 run, led 39-28, and outscored the Trojans 15-8 in the fourth quarter for the 53-33 win. Rust played a huge part in the separation with 16 second-half points.
Atlantic Head Coach Dan Vargason says the Trojans did a good job offensively, taking care of the ball and defending.

Atlantic Forward Paytn Harter became the first junior in Atlantic girl’s program history to reach the 1000 career scoring mark.
Atlantic ends the regular season with a 5-6 conference record, 8-13 overall. Harlan ends the regular season with a 7-2 conference mark and 18-2 overall.
Atlantic travels to Gowrie for a Regional Quarterfinal on Saturday night. Harlan hosts OABCIG.
