Here are the 2023 State Football rankings that have been ranked by the Iowa Print sports writers and the Iowa Football Coaches Association. The teams are listed below from Eight Man to Class 5A. We have highlighted a few local athletes who are now part of the All-State football teams.
Eight Man
CAM’s Jack Follman was named as a first-team linebacker for the CAM Cougars after his successful performance this season. Also making the list for CAM was Chase Spieker on the second team for the quarterback position. Audubon featured Evan Alt for his impressive senior season alongside Aaron Olsen for his defensive presence in the secondary. Audubon also featured punter Edward Miller.
Class A
ACGC’s Carter Richter was listed on the first-team list for Class A on the offensive line alongside his defensive line counterpart Payton Jacobe. Jathan South also earned a spot on the first-team ranking as he was ranked to be on the list for his play at defensive back. ACGC’s Mason Wahl started off the second-team rankings for ACGC as the junior was an impressive force on the offensive line. Finishing things off, Anthony Solorzano finished off the team spot as he was on the second team as a defensive utility.
Class 1A
AHSTW featured a first-team player of Nick Denning as he played as a defensive back this season in an impressive effort as he took leadership of the defense. AHSTW also featured Luke Sternberg on the second-team list in the running back position. Treynor’s Karson Elwood made the list as a wide receiver and Aaron Ehmke made the list as a punter.
Class 2A
Class 2A featured Kuemper Catholic’s DJ Vonnahme on the first team list. Featured as well is Ben Gordon in the runningback position as a senior. Van Meter also featured Nathan Becker and Adlai Lounsbury. John Braun and Porter Doggett also made the list for Van Meter on the first-team list.
Class 3A
The first-team rankings for Class 3A feature Creston’s Brennan Hayes alongside Quinten Fuller and Max Chapman. Harlan featured Matthew Sorfonden in the linebacker position. The second team featured Harlan’s Cade Sears and Creston’s Brandon Briley. Franz Reisz of Harlan was listed as a defensive lineman for the second-team ranking.
Class 4A
Glenwood’s Parker Getter was featured as an offensive lineman in Class 4A while Trent Patton was listed as a defensive lineman. On the second team, Norwalk featured Keilor Rodman and Eli Robbins alongside Kolton Borcherding.
Class 5A
The first-team rankings feature Ankeny’s Devon Akers alongside Lucas Beroth and Connor Kaiser. On the second team Waukee featured Jimmie Ware and Jacob Mohrfeld of Ankeny.
