(Midwest) After two years of warnings about possible rolling blackouts, there are no warnings for this coming winter in the Midwest.
MISO, the Midcontinent Independent System Operator, says Iowa and 14 other regional states should have enough power for the Winter season.
MISO tracks expected energy needs and supplies and annually puts out reports for the Summer and Winter seasons. In 2022, record-breaking heatwaves put the electric grid at risk of rolling blackouts during the Summer. That same winter’s record-breaking cold froze natural gas wells, electric lines, and water lines in Texas and caused outages nationwide.
