Erma Jean Jensen, the daughter of John and Erna (Popkens) Ruberg, was born June 15, 1931, in Crawford County near Denison, Iowa. She died November 4, 2023, at Hilltop Alpine Terrace, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin while on hospice with St. Croix Hospice at the age of 92 years.
She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. She attended Coon Grove Elementary school, Denison High School and business school in Omaha, Nebraska. Jean was employed in a variety of bookkeeping and accounting jobs including at the Friendship Home in Audubon for 8 years.
On December 11, 1949, she was united in marriage to Marvin Jensen at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. They were blessed with four children Mark, Terri, Patti and Mitchell. They farmed in Viola and Melville Townships. During retirement Marvin and Jean worked for Equipment Brokers where they delivered equipment throughout the U.S.
She was an active member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon where she served and volunteered in many capacities. Jean enjoyed time spent with her family and friends. She enjoyed Bible studies, music, reading, golfing and walking. Jean moved to Nekoosa, Wisconsin when she turned 90. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church while living in Wisconsin. Her most heartfelt prayer was that she be reunited with her loved ones in Heaven.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Marvin; her son Mark Jensen and son-in-law Greg Baldwin; her siblings and their spouses: Ray and Arlene Ruberg; Betty and Joe Griffin, and Dorothy and Keith Jensen; her in-laws Arlene and Dave Fenske; Marge Hansen and Leroy and Joyce Jensen.
Survivors include her children Mitchell and wife Melinda Jensen of Omaha, Nebraska; Terri and husband Bob Dobratz of Nekoosa, Wisconsin; Patti and husband Bob Kohnen of Holts Summit, Missouri; her daughter-in-law Lynnette Jensen of Ames, Iowa. She has 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren: Meleah and husband John Schneider and their children Grace, James and Jackson; Nick Jensen and Zaneta Purvis, and their children Sophia and Isabella; Chelsea and husband Harpreet Bhatti and son Zora; Emily Jensen; Ben Jensen; Leah Jensen; Erika and husband Chad Dean and their children Ayden and Adelyn; Jenny and husband Chris Mager and their children Brooklynn, Lauren and William; Sarah and husband Brad Knoll and their children Aubrey, Emma and Lilyann; Ian Baldwin; Ryan Baldwin; Kristi Baldwin; Daniel and wife Andrea Kohnen; her brothers-in-law Willis Hansen and Eldon Jensen; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
