(Iowa City, IA) – The #2 Hawkeyes have been issued their first loss of the season in an upset to Kansas State 65-58. The Wildcats went on an impressive 12-point run in the last 2:22 of the game which helped to pull their lead late in the game. This is the highest-ranked Big Ten opponent that Kansas State has ever beaten in a game during the regular season.
Caitlin Clark led the Hawkeyes as usual with 24 points and had six rebounds with 10 points alone in the third quarter as she broke away in the second half coming out of the locker room. Molly Davis was right behind with 10 points and a steal. Hannah Stuelke was just short of a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds. Kansas State was led by Ayoka Lee with 22 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Zyanna Walker had 12 points in the game with three rebounds and two assists.
Caitlin Clark now owns a three-point basket in 62 consecutive games, which is a first for the NCAA. The Hawkeyes will host the Drake Bulldogs this upcoming Sunday night at 6:00 p.m.
