Mildred Elaine Warren, the daughter of Rasmus and Johanna (Hansen) Johansen, was born October 27, 1921, at her parents’ home in Audubon County, Iowa, and died November 11, 2023, at the Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa at the age of 102 years and 14 days.
Millie was baptized and confirmed at the Ebenezer Lutheran Church northeast of Kimballton, Iowa. She attended rural schools near Kimballton. She then helped her mother and other families.
On December 13, 1942, she was united in marriage to Max Warren at her parents’ home near Kimballton, Iowa. They were blessed with one daughter, Linda. They rented several farms before they purchased a farm south of Audubon. Millie helped Max operate the farm. She raised chickens, sheep, and cattle. Millie always had a large vegetable garden and enjoyed canning all the produce. Later they moved into Audubon but still operated the farm. Max died in 1971. Millie then was employed at Greentree Pottery and helped mold, glaze, and fire pottery. When the business closed, she bought one of the kilns and made tiles for a few years until she retired.
Millie enjoyed her home and traveled to Illinois to visit her daughter and family. Millie was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church and a member of the Ladies Circle. She enjoyed her flower garden, arranging flowers and crocheting. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Max Warren, her parents; her brothers and sisters: Everett and wife Bernice Johansen, Waldo and wife Frances Johansen, Elsie and husband Folmer Juel, Dorothy and husband Pete Petersen, Leroy and wife Margie Johansen; and Robert and wife Nelda Johansen.
Survivors include her daughter Linda McKinley of East Peoria, Illinois; her grandchildren R.J. and wife Randi McKinley of Peoria Heights, Illinois, and their children Julian and Sydney; and Jason McKinley of Morton Illinois; and his children Atticus, Anakin, and Ava; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
