(Treynor, IA) – The Treynor Cardinals didn’t just take week one to go just one step at a time, they took their game up to the next level. Treynor shutout St. Albert 41-0 to go into week two with a lot of confidence. Coach Jeff Casey is looking for his athletes to develop better timing and keep up the defensive game in week two.
Treynor’s offense was led by Ben Casey as he threw 8-17 in the game while passing for 209 yards and four touchdowns. Jace Tams and Karson Elwood combined for 169 yards receiving and three combined touchdowns. However, Treynor struggled in the rushing game as the team only rushed for 92 combined yards. Week two looks to be a bit different than week one.
Defensively, the Cardinals were able to not only hold a shutout contest, they were able to earn four sacks, 14 tackles for loss, and keep the Falcons scoreless.
Out of the 14 tackles for loss, 10 of the tackles were by two players alone. Zack Robbins had 7.5 tackles, five tackles for loss, and three out of the four sacks. Tristen Pierce also contributed to the defensive game as he had seven tackles, five tackles for loss, and another sack in the game. Both Robbins and Pierce are looking to continue to step up coming into week two and get even better against the Trojans.
Looking under the lights, Tri-Center lost their first game to AHSTW 64-27 and the Trojans gave up multiple big plays to let the Vikings roll over the scoreboard. Regardless of that outcome in week one, it is now week two, and Coach Casey is prepared for a very talented Tri-Center team.
Treynor is going to take on Tri-Center in Neola at 7:00 p.m.
