(Iowa City, IA) – As Iowa State athletes have been receiving charges for sports betting, the University of Iowa has its own share of athletes who have been charged. Former Hawkeye, Ahron Ulis, has been charged in the gambling investigation by the NCAA. He is currently a Nebraska Husker and could face a loss of permanent eligibility which could put him out of collegiate athletics altogether.
Ulis placed over 1,800 bets on his brother’s FanDuel account in over a year’s span. These bets were placed when he was under the legal gambling age at 21 years old and even placed a bet on an Iowa game. His bets totaled a large sum of money, around $35,000 total.
Two other players have also been charged from the University of Iowa including baseball player Gebrig Christensen whom we covered in a story on Wednesday. Aaron Blom was also caught in the gambling investigation as he had over 170 wagers and bet while he was underage.
