Tracie was born on July 17th, 1969 at Broadlawns Hospital in Des Moines. She was adopted into her family in August of 1969. She was baptized and made her first communion at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Defiance. She attended St. Boniface Catholic School until the family moved to Harlan and then went to St. Michael’s Catholic School where she was confirmed. She completed her education at Harlan Middle School and Harlan Community High School. In high school she was a proud member of the Harlan Cyclone Marching Band.
In 1993 Tracie had her son Timothy and started nursing school. Tracie was successful in getting her LPN and practiced for several years until she had to stop due to her health issues. At birth Tracie had been born with a hole in her heart and continued having cardiac problems as well as Diabetes and Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy along with other health problems throughout
her life.
On October 30, 1999 Tracie married the love of her life, John Ward. They moved to west of Earling Iowa. As a couple they have a shared love of animals, NASCAR Races, rock concerts and the New York Yankees. In 2019 they were able to attend a Yankees game in New York City. They lived in Earling until 2022 when they moved to Manilla, IA and lived there until her death on August 1st, 2023.
Tracie did not have hobbies but obsessions. If she liked something she had to have several variations. Beanie Babies were a huge hit and she loved her green olives and dill pickles. She was a huge Hawkeyes fan and the Minnesota Vikings. But most of all she loved her books. Since she was a toddler she has devoured books and has a very large collection. In the last few weeks she was reading the Bible.
Tracie is survived by her husband, John Ward of Manilla, Son Tim Goeser of Harlan, parents Edward and Marilyn Goeser of Harlan, brother Tom (Margaret) Goeser of Manilla, sister Tonya Goeser of Harlan, Nephews Danny Goeser, Norwalk, Iowa and Adam (Annie) Goeser of Persia plus three great-nieces and her beloved cat, Jett. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Michael and Frances Nollen and Bruno and Mildred Goeser, niece Laura Goeser and nephew Justin Goeser.
