(Atlantic) The Atlantic baseball team starts week three with a 4-1 record. Red Oak handed Atlantic their first season loss last Friday night, 10-4. The Trojans are at Clarinda for a doubleheader on Tuesday and Thursday at St. Albert. Clarinda is 2-0 with wins over Shenandoah and Glenwood. Coach Schelling continues to work on depth with his pitching staff.
Jayden Proehl and Carter Pellett are the Trojans’ two senior pitchers. Proehl has pitched 4.2 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits, with five strikeouts, two walks, and two hit batters. Pellett has not allowed a run in 7.1 innings of work, striking out 13 hitters, one walk, and one hit batter. The Trojans are hitting .279 as a team led by Easton O’Brien (.538), Jackson McLaren (.444), and Tanner O’Brien (.400).
James McCall and Crieghton Tuzzio picked up wins on the hill for Clarinda against Shenandoah and Glenwood. McCall shut out Shenandoah, allowing no runs on three hits, striking out 11, with one walk. Tuzzio hurled the win over the Rams, allowing two runs on two hits, striking out nine, with two walks. Ronnie Weidman leads the Cardinals offensively, batting .667, and Leland Woodruff is hitting .400.
