CAM’s Chase Jahde places 4th at state golf, Cougars finish 10th as a team

(Anita) Hillcrest Academy won the Class 1A Boys State Golf Tourney held Monday and Tuesday at Ames Golf and Country Club.

They shot 337 on day one and 313 on day two for a 36-hole team total of 650. Five strokes back was runner-up West Fork (338-317, 655). CAM had the 18-hole lead, but couldn’t keep the pace on day two. The Cougars posted a team score of 693 to place 10th. Their first round total was 335, which had them ahead of the field by one stroke heading into Tuesday.

Chase Jahde placed 4th for CAM with a 153. He posted a 75 on day one and finished with a 78 on day two. Seth Hensley tied for 28th with a 170 (80-90). Bradyn Bohnsack tied for 51st at 183. Lukas James and Carson Cary tied for 64th at 194. Gavyn Jessen shot 205 for 68th place.

Hamburg’s Keith Thompson was the individual runner-up. He lost a playoff with champion Mikey Takacs, of Regina Catholic. Each golfer posted two round totals of 148. Thompson was one under par on the final day with his round of 70.

Griswold’s Kamron Brownlee tied for 28th with a 170 (86-84).
