(Atlantic) The Atlantic baseball team plays a full schedule of games this week, starting with a road game at Lenox this evening. This is Lenox’s season opener. The Trojans enter the season’s second week on the heels of a 6-4 win over Nodaway Valley on May 15.
Atlantic Head Coach Gaylord Schelling and his staff welcomed 44 players to the squad this season. The team is led by six seniors, Jackson McLaren, Tanner O’Brien, Clevi Johnson, Carter Pellett, Easton O’Brien, and Jayden Proehl.
Coach Schelling says the focus last week in practice was working on two-strike pitches to eliminate some of the strikeouts experienced against Nodaway Valley. Schelling says Lenox will be a good test for his ball club. The Tigers defeated the Trojans 7-3 one year ago.
Atlantic plays Missouri Valley on Tuesday, Denison-Schleswig on Thursday, and Red Oak on Friday.
Tonight’s game at Lenox starts at 6:00 p.m.
