(Undated) — Fentanyl overdoses claim more than 75-thousand lives in the U.S. every year. Anne Milgram, the head of the Drug Enforcement Agency, says social media has become a super highway for Mexican drug cartels pushing fentanyl products.
Today is National Fentanyl Awareness Day, an effort to shine a spotlight on the problem which has reached communities from urban to rural. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that’s approved by the FDA and legitimately prescribed for pain management. The CDC notes it is up to 50 times stronger than heroin and around 100 times stronger than morphine.
