(Des Moines, IA) — The proposal requiring Iowans to pass an asset test to qualify for SNAP benefits is waiting for the signature of Governor Kim Reynolds, and some Iowans are asking her to veto the bill. Residents against the measure are holding a press conference this morning (Tues) at 10:30 in the Iowa State Capitol. Iowa households with more than 15-thousand dollars in liquid assets will no longer be eligible for the program. The nonpartisan Legislative Services Agency says more than 11-thousand Iowa households will have their benefits canceled due to the proposal.
