Robert James Lovell, the son of Michael Lee and Susan Marie (James) Lovell, was born December 18, 1972, in Atlantic, IA. He died November 4, 2022, in Fort Myers, FL, at the age of 49 years, 10 months, and 17 days.
Rob attended school at Griswold, graduating from Griswold High School with the class of 1991. After graduating, Rob enlisted in the Marines. While he was in the Marines, Rob served in the Philippines, Hawaii, Guam, Cuba, Alaska, Japan and Jamaica. After being honorably discharged, Rob returned to Iowa. He attended Iowa State University for a year, and then Northwest Missouri State University, where he received his bachelor’s degree. Rob moved to Kansas City and worked for the Johnson County Wastewater Department in the mapping department. Rob then moved to Fort Myers, FL, where he began a job with the Department of Transportation in Lee County. Rob continued to live in Fort Myers, until the time of his death.
Rob enjoyed golfing, playing fantasy football, watching sports. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father Michael; his brother Thomas; and his grandparents.
He is survived by his mother Susan of Griswold, IA, and his sister Gina Lantry of Omaha, NE; his nieces and nephews: Trey, Tanner, and Victoria Lovell, and Wyatt and Paige Lantry; and his great nieces, Rayla and Elena. Rob is also survived by many other relatives and many other friends.
An interment at the Iowa Veteran’s Cemetery, Adel, Iowa on April 14, 2023 at 2:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will follow the interment at the East of Omaha in Griswold, Iowa from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Rob’s name.
