Ralph George Hansen was born April 11,1930 on the Hansen family farm just north of Walnut to George and Ella Hansen. Ralph attended country schools north of Walnut and graduated from Walnut high school in 1947. After graduation Ralph worked with his father on the farm that has now been in the family for over 125 years.
On May 15, 1949, Ralph was united in marriage to Marjorie Ann Mortensen at Bethel Baptist Church in Harlan, Iowa. They made their home at the Hansen family farm. Ralph and Marge were the parents of Bruce Alan, Steven Douglas, and Gail Patricia. Gail passed away at the age of four days.
Ralph passed away on April 11, 2023, having just attained the age of 93 years. He was preceded in death by his wife Marge, daughter Gail, his parents George and Ella Hansen, sister and brother-in-law Helen and Robert Wendt, brothers-in-law James Mortensen and Glade Custer, sisters-in-law Donna Mortensen and Ila Custer, nephews James Custer and Jim Mortensen, and nieces Sharon and Connie Custer.
Ralph is survived by son Bruce Hansen and his wife Therese Park of Overland Park, KS, son Steve and his wife Marilyn of Urbandale, IA, grandsons Zach and Ethan Hansen of Urbandale, IA, nieces and nephews.
Ralph was a dedicated and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and friend to many. In earlier years he loved to travel to Colorado and Yellowstone National Park, camping with family and friends. He was a wonderful example of living a life of integrity, responsibility and kindness. We celebrate his life and will miss him dearly.
A Graveside Service will be held Friday, April 14 at 11:30 a.m. a Layton Township Cemetery in Walnut, Iowa. Visitation is Friday, April 14 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan. Pauley Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
