(Greenfield) Progress is being shown by the Nodaway Valley boys track team.
Nodaway Valley’s last competition was on Tuesday in Earlham. “I loved to see Doug Berg run his 1600 meter in 4:45.75. That’s his fastest time of the year and it’s been coming down every time he runs it.” Coach Chase Green was also pleased with Berg’s 800 leg of the distance medley, “He ran a 2:08 which is a pretty promising time for him to be running.”
Berg has the 12th fastest time in Class 1A in the 1600 and is 20th in the 3200. Blake Lund in the hurdles and Trent Warner in the throwing events have also been key contributors for Nodaway Valley.
Lund has run season bests of 16.61 in the 110 Highs and 1:01.68 in the 400 Lows. Warner is in the top ten in the shot put and discus for Class 1A with a throws of 47-09 in the shot and 140-11 in the discus. “Blake Lund has been doing a good job there getting his times down. Also in our throws, Trent Warner is improving.”
With just one meet this week the team has some big workouts a head as well as some team building efforts. “I think we are going to do a little bit of team building, maybe have a team dinner on Thursday to give everyone a chance to enjoy themselves. We’ve been working so hard. We tend to make every practice including meets an opportunity to work out. We’ve been pushing the kids so hard that I think we are going to focus a little bit now on getting them some time off and some fun. But we still have some intentions to do some hard work this week.”
Nodaway Valley returns to competition on Monday at Van Meter.
