(Avoca) AHSTW will be among the team’s at the Riverside girls meet on Tuesday.
Coach Traye Pelzer is encouraged by the group he has out for track and field. The squad looks for mid-distance to be a strength. “I’m really excited. We have about 15 athletes we are working with right now. I definitely think middle distance is something we want to look at.”
The team has found some pleasant surprises in the throwing group. “I’m pretty excited about the progress they’ve made.” The throwers include Charlotte Parker, Becca Mohn, and Hannah Nielson.
The Lady Vikes performed well in their first outdoor meet at Audubon last Thursday. “I thought altogether we ran pretty well. We were a little thin on numbers. Ava Paulsen got 2nd place in the open 800. She ran 2:41 into a pretty strong wind. That’s pretty encouraging to see. Our sprint medley got 8th place. I thought Brooklyn Buck put together a good 400. Graycen Partlow ended up getting 7th in the 100M hurdles and 6th place in the 400 lows. Both were good times for her. I thought we ran well.”
Competition for AHSTW starts at 4:30 on Tuesday at Riverside.
