(Seattle, WA) The Iowa basketball team advanced to the NCAA Women’s Basketball Final Four with their win against Louisville. The #2 seed Hawkeyes on Sunday eliminated the 5th seeded Cardinals 97-83.
An 11-2 run late in the 3rd quarter opened up some breathing room. A Caitlin Clark 3-pointer early in the 4th pushed the Iowa advantage to 20 points. Louisville embarked on a 13-1 run in the 4th quarter to get within 10. They held Iowa without a field goal for over 7:00, but the Hawkeyes shot well enough at the free-throw line to close it out. They were 23/30 at the stripe.
Clark posted 41 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists. She was 11/19 from the field, 8/14 from 3-point range, and 9/11 at the free-throw line. McKenna Warnock submitted 17 points and 5 rebounds. Gabbie Marshall scored 14.
Iowa is 30-6 on the season. Their next game will be against either South Carolina or Maryland on Friday. Iowa’s last trip to the Final Four came in 1993.
