(Atlantic) The Atlantic girl’s track team competes at Earlham on Tuesday and travels to Denison for Thursday’s Hawkeye Ten Conference North Track Meet.
The Trojans got their first taste of competition last Saturday at the Northwest Missouri High School Indoor Meet at Maryville. Atlantic Head Coach Matt Mullenix says they accomplished what they set out to do.
The Trojans finished fifth in the Distance Medley Relay. Jayci Reed won the 60-meter hurdles, and Mariah Huffman and Nichol Middents finished fifth and seventh in the 400-meter. Ava Rush was second in the 800 meters, and Reed and Hailey Huffman were second and seventh in the 200 meters. The Trojans’ depth showed in the 400, with two teams finishing in the top five in the 4×400 meter relay, with second and fourth-place finishes.
The second-place quad ran 4:17.68, and the fourth-place team finished in a time of 4:24.23.
The meet at Earlham starts at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams competing include; Atlantic, ADM, Earlham, Madrid, Martensdale-St. Mary’s, Mount Ayr, Panorama, Perry, St. Edmond, Van Meter, and West Central Valley.
