Elise “Bunnie” Marie Fiedler, age 67, of Atlantic, passed away Friday, February 24, 2023, at Atlantic Specialty Care.
Elise, better known to all as Bunnie, was born on December 30, 1955, the daughter of Edward and Annette (Schroeder) Lehmann in the Atlantic. She was raised in Atlantic and graduated with the class of 1974. At an early age, she started to tell her sisters she had big plans. She and her sister Barbara started a shoe shine stand, their dad had made for them, and they worked on Thursday nights and Saturdays. She also detasseled corn in the summer, and then Bunnie took a job working for the family shoe store. Later after graduation, she looked into a career in the medical field. She took a position at the Cass County Memorial Hospital, where she became a respiratory therapist, and would continue till she retired after 37 years.
On May 23, 1995, she was united in marriage to Christopher Fiedler in Las Vegas. Where they would make Atlantic their home. They were members of Ss Peter & Paul Catholic Church, ABATE, Star Tour and Riding. They enjoyed traveling on the bike, and Bunnie never missed a chance to go from campfire to cookout at bike rallies. She loved to tell stories and jokes.
Bunnies’ passion was golf. She was a member of the Nishna Hills Golf Course, where she served on the ladies’ board. She and her sister Bard were avid golfers. Bunnie was also involved in community activities, one being when the Elks Lodge had their talent shows. She loved to entertain and sing.
Bunnie is survived by her husband Chris of Atlantic; stepson, Shaun (Star) Fiedler and their daughter Keria of Atlantic; sister, Barbara (Robert) Jorgensen of Audubon; brothers-in-law, Duane Thelen of Anita, and Art Watson of Montana; many nieces and nephews, Josh Madsen of Exira, Jessica Aspengren of Fort Dodge, Jason Thelen of West Virginia, Angie and Clark Christensen of Montana.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Annette Lehmann; sisters Jodi Thelen and Julie Watson.
A prayer service will be held at 1:00 p.m., with Fr. Trevor Chicoine on Saturday, March 4, 2023, followed by a celebration of life gathering till 4:00 p.m. at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Atlantic, IA.
Memorials may be directed to Cass County Memorial Hospital, they will be designated to a memorial in memory of Bunnie and may be mailed at Schmidt Family Funeral Home P.O. Box 523, Atlantic, IA 50022.
