Dale Jenkins, stubborn, strong willed, hardworking, loved to tease, retired farmer, but most importantly loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away February 9, 2023 at the age of 86 years.
Dale was born on a farm outside of Griswold on January 10, 1937. He was the son of William (Bill) and Louise Jenkins. Dale graduated from Griswold High School in 1955. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the Army. Before leaving for his overseas duty in the Philippines, he met Helen Kenyon from Rochester, New York. They fell in love through letters. Upon his return, engagement ring in hand he asked her to be his bride. They married on November 7, 1958 and spent 64 years together as husband and wife.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents William (Bill ) Jenkins and Louise (Towne ) Jenkins and his sister Janet S. (Jenkins ) Ferson.
Dale leaves behind his loving wife Helen (Kenyon) Jenkins, a daughter Deb (Dale) Stephenson, a son Ron (Karen ) Jenkins, grandchildren Lyndsey (Stephenson ) Buhrman (Tim ), Danielle (Stephenson ) Jones (Matt ), Shelby Jenkins, Chelsea (Jenkins ) Dvorak (Alex ) and William Jenkins (Samantha ) and great- grandchildren Dyllan Buhrman, Bryce Buhrman, Brayden Jones, Brody Christensen, Brystol Dvorak, Chance Dvorak, Cash Suhr and Lux Jenkins.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the Griswold United Methodist Church. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday morning at the church, starting at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in the Whipple Cemetery. Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is assisting the family.
