(Audubon) Representatives from ETI were on hand at the Audubon County Board of Supervisor’s meeting this week to discuss the HVAC project.
Justin Veik and two other engineers went over the plans with the Board of Supervisor’s. Chairman Doug Sorensen says they were able to go over some specifics. “We did a walk around of the courthouse and looked at how things are going to lay out and where we are going to have to do major work. I guess the thing that was eye opening to me is how much duct work is involved in this.”
Sorensen admits there will be some challenges with ventilation. For example, “The courthouse does have some ventilation issues, particularly on the lower level around the jail. Also some the upper level, especially in the summer time, it can get warm. We are going to try and do a lot of air circulation movement.”
As a result, there will be some areas where walls have to be opened up to make room for duct work. “We are trying to make that almost as invisible as possible. There are only going to be a couple of places where you have to cross a hallway with a duct. Then there are going to have to be some suspended ceilings where we put some of these things. It was quite a tour. I got my eyes opened how much work it’s going to be and how intrusive it’s going to be.”
The estimated cost of the project is $2.2 million. Bid-Letting will take place in early March with the hopes of getting started on the project in May. If all goes well the HVAC replacement will be at least operational by the middle October.
