(Neola) Several wrestling teams from Southwest Iowa and Eastern Nebraska competed Saturday at Tri-Center’s wrestling tournament.
Hinton’s 195 points were enough for a team title. Reserve honors went to West Monona with 160. Harlan finished 3rd with 152, followed by Nodaway Valley/O-M in 4th with 116.5.
The Cyclones were led by individual champions Jesse Jens, Bret Van Baale, and Matt Schwery. Zane Bendorf came in 2nd. Spencer Fink and Brody McKinley each placed 4th.
Nodaway Valley/O-M’s Trenton Warner came in 2nd. Several Wolverines placed 3rd including Ashton Honnold, Carmine Shaw, Zackery Gebbie, and Keyin Steeve.
Other local highlights saw runner-up finishes from ACGC’s Gavin Sloss and Tegan Slaybaugh. The Chargers placed 7th out of 18 teams with 109.5 points. Chase Slaybaugh and Payton Jacobe each placed 3rd for ACGC.
