(Audubon) The Audubon boys wrestling team is back in the room preparing for the next stretch of the season.
Coach Tyler Christensen has been pleased with the progression of his young team. “I’ve been really happy with the way things are progressing for them. Some pretty new kids to the sport are starting to take hold of some moves and are looking like wrestlers out on the mat.”
Coach Christensen identifies a couple of the leaders so far this year. “We have two guys that have pretty decent records. Lane Elmquist is doing pretty well at 106 for us and Alex Hansen is at 145 and just made the switch to 138. He’s a tough kid and just got 2nd in conference. They are doing good things for us.”
Elmquist is 13-3 and Hansen has a record of 12-4. The Wheelers are getting back into the swing of things after a break for Christmas. “This week we got back to work. We are having two-a-days where we have an open drill session. Coach Kerkhoff came up with the idea for that and it’s good for the kids to pick and choose some things they really want to work on.”
Audubon returns to competition on January 7th at the Rollin Dyer Invitational in Atlantic.
