(Marion, IA) — A Marion woman is suing while claiming the Linn-Mar Community School District board of education doesn’t have the authority to ban her from attending its meetings. Amanda Snyder disrupted a meeting August 29th, was asked to leave and was eventually escorted out by a police officer. She later received a letter from the district superintendent and board president saying she had violated board policy and was banned from in-person school board meetings for 12 months. The policy Snyder violated is based on an Iowa law that only allows for public comments to be submitted during designed times in board meetings.
