(Sidney) Coming up on KSOM Friday night it’s Sidney at AHSTW. The broadcast will feature a live video stream available HERE.
Sidney coach Shawn Thompson is very complimentary of undefeated AHSTW. “Oh man. They can do all things. That’s what I notice about them. Very hard team to prepare for. They are offensively sound. They don’t have short spot in their game at all. They run the ball well, they throw it all over the field. They have great athletes. They have great athletes and they are just monsters up front. Big #73 (Jaicob Madsen) is a physical guy. He sure sticks out on film to us. There’s some other really good athletes in there. (Brayden) Lund the tight end and wide receiver is a good athlete. Then of course it all starts with Kyle and Luke Sternberg, the quarterback and running back. Those guys are the real deal.”
The Cowboys beat Wayne in their opener, but have since lost four straight. “We are very young. Youngest football team we’ve had here in Sidney in years. It’s been a slow process. We are playing in a really tough and well-coached district. Tons of athletes in this district and our young guys are having to learn the hard knocks. It’s been a slow process, but our guys keep fighting and sticking in there.
Coach Thompson points out that have a tall order against Class A’s 5th rated Vikings. “They seem to be quite athletic and be able to make plays. They are really good with their decisions and well-coached over there. It’s a really, really good football team. Defensively they are ball-hawks. They are physical and fast and big. It’ll be a great task.”
AHSTW is coming off of a 39-19 win over Riverside in Week 5. Sidney fell behind 42-0 at Mount Ayr after one quarter last week on their way to a 56-6 loss.
