(Greenfield) Nodaway Valley/O-M head coach Seth Comly has been re-instated.
On September 2nd, Comly was placed on administrative leave. The reason given was a lack of communication. Comly says, “It’s something I have struggles with, but not to quite the extent that maybe it was represented. The administration lost confidence in my ability to lead the team because of my lack of communication.”
Comly maintained confidence that he would return. “It would kind of come and go, but for the most part I was fairly confident I would be back. I knew from the support I had in the community and from my boys with how much support I had it gave me confidence that with all those people backing me there was no way I wouldn’t be back.”
The school board sided with Comly during their Wednesday, September 14th meeting. Superintendent Paul Croghan confirms it was a 3-2 vote and their will be enough staff remaining on board to take the field on Friday. Comly describes it all as, “Quite nerve racking, very stressful, emotionally taxing, it was definitely a long night, but I think it was worth it because we got the outcome that we did. The whole week and everything up to it was just grueling mentally and physically taxing not just for myself and my family and my kids, but the team and the boys. It was a long week and a half. They are just as relieved as I am.”
Comly didn’t realize how much support he had from the community until recently. “I could never imagine that many people would be backing me and supporting me.”
