(Harlan) Harlan hosts Glenwood Friday in a matchup of 2-1 teams.
Harlan has put together back-to-back wins including a 42-14 decision over Sergeant Bluff-Luton on Friday. Glenwood comes in on the heels of a 40-6 triumph against Abraham Lincoln. Cyclone coach Todd Bladt comments on the Rams. “They like to sling it around a little bit and they have some big linemen they like to run behind. It’s going to be quite a hard hitting game I think. They have some big boys and will try to put pressure on our offensive linemen.”
Despite scoring six touchdowns and posting 400 yards of offense last week, coach Bladt knows they can improve. “We had a little bit of a lull in our game last week. Offensively we weren’t quite clicking and missed a few things in our assignments. We have to be better offensively.”
He adds the defense had some miscues, over ran a few things, and didn’t have their fits quite where they needed them. One bright spot on that side of the ball though was Gunner Schmitz. The 6-1 230 pound senior defensive lineman had nine tackles including five tackles for loss. “He played really tough. He was a force to be reckoned with defensively and he has done a lot of good things offensively too.”
The offensive line had some spots to fill from last season. Coach Bladt gives us a progress report on that unit. “That was kind of a big concern, but we have some guys in there that are really battling. They are starting to come together as a cohesive unit. They are going to be tested this week.”
Aidan Hall leads the Cyclone offense with 175 rushing yards and 158 receiving yards. He ran 8 times for 102 yards and two scores last week. Teagon Kasperbauer completed 14/20 passes in Week 3 with 186 yards and two TD’s. He tied Joel Osborn’s career record for touchdown passes, now with 76.
