(Oakland) Two Western Iowa Conference softball teams will get together Monday in Oakland for a doubleheader. KSOM will have the call as the Riverside Lady Dawgs host the Audubon Wheelers. A live video stream of the contest will be available HERE
Riverside is coming off of an unbeaten weekend at their home tournament and has an overall season record of 3-14. Coach Chris Conover’s group has defeated Lenox, East Mills, and Sidney this year.
Elly Henderson leads the team at the plate with a .471 average. Madison Kelley is batting .406, Ayla Richardson .382, Adeline Martens .333, and Mica Welch .312. Richardson tops the squad in RBI with 13 while Kelley has hit a team best four doubles. The team’s top four hitters are all either 8th graders or freshmen.
Richardson has handled the majority of the pitching duties this season with 53 strikeouts in 62 1/3 innings.
Audubon’s bats are led by Jordan Porsch batting .360. Michelle Brooks carries a .353 average with Addie Hocker hitting .300.
Kali Irlmeier and Alexis Obermeier have given coach Eric Borkowski’s squad a solid 1-2 punch in the circle. In 25 1/3 innings Irlmeier has a 1.66 ERA with 26 K’s and six walks. Obermeier has worked 20 1/3 innings with a 2.75 ERA, 25 strikeouts, and four free passes.
4-5 Audubon has only one win against Riverside in the last ten years. The Wheeler’s victory came in a 2-1 final score last year.
