Michael Sean Christensen, age 52, of Atlantic, died at his home on Tuesday, April 19, 2022. He was born the son of Gary and Janice (Peterson) Christensen on October 12, 1969, in Atlantic, IA. Michael graduated from Anita High School in 1988, then attended Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa for a time before starting his work at Cass Incorporated in Atlantic for several years. Later he would work in the kitchen for Pizza Hut and then Pizza Ranch.
Michael was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, as well as a WWE wrestling and NASCAR fan. He had a large collection of WWE souvenirs. He loved going to Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines to see WWE matches and going to Iowa Cubs games as well. He was an avid reader of sportsbooks and had several hundred and could remember everything he read. He collected team sports hats of which there were over 200 or more in his collection. But most of all, Michael was a quiet, kind, and loving son and brother who never spoke an unkind word about anyone.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Hans and Amanda Christensen and Alvin and Velma Peterson, as well as several aunts and uncles. Michael is survived by his parents, Gary and Janice Christensen of Anita, Iowa; a sister, Deidra Christensen of Des Moines, Iowa; and an extended close family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am, Saturday, April 23, 2022, at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Anita, Iowa with Rev. Garry DeGeest officiating. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Anita. Visitation with the family present will be from 9 am until the time of services at the funeral home on Saturday.
