Clifford E. Herb, age 73, of Casey, IA, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022, at his residence under the care of St. Croix Hospice. He was born the son of Clifford Kelsey and Clara Brown Herb on June 10, 1948, in Elmira, New York. Shortly after graduating from High School, Clifford entered the United States Army.
His years of service took him to many places including Wurzburg, Germany. Clifford earned the rank of Staff Sargent and served over 20 years with the Army. He retired honorably from full military service on October 31, 1987. Upon his retirement, he would later move to Casey, Iowa where he so enjoyed the peace and quietness of small-town country life.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. Clifford is survived by his friend and caretaker, Gary Noyes of Casey, Iowa; daughters, Samantha Herb of Tioga, PA and Korrie Brownell and her children, Brooke and Bryce Brownell of Lawrenceville, PA; a brother, Gerald (Herby) Herb of Elmira, NY and 2 older sisters, Lucille (Lucy Herb) Derry of Elmira, NY and Shirley (Herb) Hale of Millerton, PA.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Graveside Military Honors will be held at 11 am, Thursday, March 17, 2022, at the Dalmanutha Cemetery in rural Guthrie County near Casey, Iowa. The Schmidt Family Funeral Home of Adair is caring for Herb family at this time and condolences can be sent at: schmidtfamilyfh.com.
