(Cumberland) The Progressive Rural Iowa Development Enterprise is holding a legislative Coffee on Saturday. Clark Gerlock, Vice-President of P.R.I.D.E., hosts the event at 9:30 a.m. at the Cumberland Fire Station.
Kim Spillers of P.R.I.D.E. says Senator Tom Shipley of Nodaway and Representative Tom Moore of Griswold will each have five minutes to update the attendees on the happenings in their respective chambers. Spillers says after that, the floor is open to the public for questions. “The people get to speak to Senator Shipley and Representative Moore,” said Spillers. “We find this works well. They are open to that and we get all kinds of great discussion because the topics impact all of us.”
In early January, P.R.I.D.E. hosted a pre-session coffee in Marne and a zoom session in February. The coffee in Cumberland is in-person.
The final legislative coffee will be held on April 2, at 9:30 a.m. at the Marne Community Center.
