David Lee Macumber was born on June 9, 1960 to the late James and Rosalie (Siemer) Macumber in Manilla, Iowa. He graduated from Manilla High School with the Class of 1978.
After graduation, he ran the feed store in Manilla, and trained and raised dogs. In 1982, Dave was blessed with one son, Jeremia, and in 1997, he was blessed with a daughter, Sydney. For a short while, he lived in Adel, Iowa and Beatrice, Nebraska before moving back to Manning in 2001. He worked for Harvey’s Oil Company for 20 years.
He was an avid pheasant hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors. You could find Dave either cooking at home or hanging out with friends while drinking bourbon. He enjoyed participating in chili competitions, even winning a few and traveling near and far for his dogs to compete. Most recently, he enjoyed his “Sunday Funday’s” with his family and friends. Overall, Dave loved his family more than anything, especially spoiling his granddaughter, Claire.
Dave passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, attaining the age of sixty-one years, six months and two days. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant sister: Sharon Macumber.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, Jeremia Macumber and his wife Elaine of Manning; daughter, Sydney Macumber and her significant other Tyler Saunders of Manilla; granddaughter, Claire Rose Macumber of Manning; brother, Michael Macumber of Sac City; beloved dog, Annie; other relatives and friends.
Visitation is 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Ohde Funeral Home in Manilla. Celebration of Life is 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 17, 2021 at the Manilla Memorial Hall in Manilla. Memorials may be directed to the family.
