(Indianapolis, IN) Two explosive plays by Michigan early in the game gave the Wolverines more than enough breathing room against Iowa in the Big Ten Championship. #2 Michigan improves to 12-1 on the season with a 42-3 decision over the 13th ranked and 10-3 Hawks.
A Blake Corum 67-yard run with 6:38 to go in the first quarter got Michigan off to a 7-0 lead. Roman Wilson caught a 75 yard TD pass from Donovan Edwards on a trick play with 5:27 left in the first to extend the advantage to 14-0.
Iowa’s offense managed 279 yards. Alex Padilla replaced Spencer Petras at quarterback in the second half with little change in the production level. Padilla was 10/16, but threw for just 38 yards and one interception. Petras had 137 yards on 9/22 completions.
A pair of short TD runs by Hassan Haskins after the break extended the lead to 28-3 and Erick All caught a five yard TD from Caleb McNamara in the fourth quarter to push the margin to 35-3. Edwards capped the scoring with a TD run with 1:25 to play. Haskins has 20 rushing TD’s, a new single season Michigan record. The Wolverines ran for 211 yards and passed for 250.
