Nancy Lea (Gustafson) Slayton, 68, formerly of Adair, IA, passed away peacefully on Oct. 30th in her home in Phoenix, AZ after a long battle with Huntington’s Disease.
Nancy was born on August 17, 1953, in Atlantic, IA, and was raised on a farm in Adair, IA. Nancy graduated from Adair Casey High School in 1971 then moved to Des Moines to work for Northwestern Bell. Her job transferred her to Omaha, NE in 1987 then in 1999 she relocated to Glendale, AZ to enjoy the sunshine. She retired from Northwestern Bell in 2003.
While Nancy was still healthy, she enjoyed softball and bowling leagues and summer vacations with her family. She loved dolphins, visiting her sister Cheryl in Santa Barbara, and she loved her family. She was sweet, spunky, a ball of fun, and always laughing. Her nieces and nephews referred to her as crazy Aunt Nancy. She spent many of her later years watching women’s sports and NFL.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Darlene (Tibben), and 3 of her siblings; brother Delmar, and sisters Kerry Sue Dunn (Randy) and Cheryl Gustafson. She is survived by her sister Cindy Gustafson Reinhardt (Brad), Randy Dunn, Sue Plagman, 6 nieces and nephews, 13 great-nieces and nephews, 1 great-great-nephew, and lifelong friends and caregivers, Deb Todd, and Willie Boucher.

Private graveside service will take place at Sunnyhill Cemetery in Adair, IA.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at the Blue Goose in Adair, IA., where all are welcome to attend.
