Marian Marie Froker, the daughter of Peter B. and Metta Marie (Hjuler) Sorensen, was born November 21, 1928, at her parents’ home near Kimballton, Iowa and died November 4, 2021, at the Community Care Center in Stuart, Iowa at the age of 92 years, 11 month, and 13 days.
Marian was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church near of Kimballton, Iowa. She attended rural schools in Sharon Township Audubon County. Marian then worked for other families. Later she worked at Westergaard and Allen Produce and the Jacobsen Bakery in Kimballton.
On April 27, 1952, she was united in marriage E. LaVerne Froker at the Bethany Lutheran Church northeast of Kimballton. They were blessed with four daughters Mary, Jana, Nadine, and Karen. They farmed east of Audubon, Iowa then in 1956 moved to a farm north and east of Exira, Iowa. They grew row crops and raised livestock for many years. Marian always had a large vegetable garden and enjoyed eating the fresh produce and canning the rest. They operated the farm until they retired and moved into Exira in 1989. LaVerne died March 10, 2006. Marian live in her home in Exira until she moved to the Community Care Center in August of 2021.
Marian was an active member of the Exira Lutheran Church and the Naomi Circle. She helped serve at the church, helped teach Sunday school, and spent many hours sewing quilts with the other church women. Marian was a talented seamstress, baker. quilter, farmer, and gardener. Marian always enjoyed her visits from her children and grandchildren.
Preceding her in death in addition to her husband LaVerne Froker were he parents Peter and Metta Sorensen; her sister Norma Jean and husband Amond Ohms.
Survivors include her daughters Mary and husband Tom Jourdan of Omaha, Nebraska, Jana and husband Denny Danielson of Moline, Illinois, Nadine and husband Brian Ingwers of Stuart, Iowa, and Karen and husband Kyle Knapp of Madison, Nebraska; her brother Robert and Nerita Sorensen of Walnut, Iowa; her several grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Keith Menter on Monday, November 8, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira, Iowa. Interment will be in the Exira Cemetery in Exira. The family will meet with friends Monday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira, Iowa. The casket bearers will be her grandsons Jason Tomford, Zachary Ingwers, Jacob Ingwers, Seth Knapp, Eli Knapp, Anthony Bocardo, Nic Rath, and Tyler Rigby.
