(Des Moines, IA) — Iowans voted in record numbers in city and school board elections. Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate was hoping for a record turnout and with a couple of counties still to tally final results, he has it. About 400-thousand Iowans, or 67-thousand more than in 2019, cast ballots in local elections Tuesday. Pate says absentee balloting was also high with some areas doubling the number of requests for absentee ballots compared to two years ago.
