Marilyn Ann Brunk, the daughter of James Audrey and Margaret Ellen (Couthard) Liddell, was born February 17, 1933, at Essex, IA. Marilyn died at the Griswold Nursing and Rehab on October 16, 2021, at the age of 88 years, 7 months, and 29 days.
Marilyn moved to the home place southeast of Griswold in 1941. She rode her horse to country school and then attended high school in Griswold. She graduated from Griswold High School with the class of 1951. After graduating, she worked at Griswold State Bank and then Houghton State Bank. On Aug 7, 1954, she was united in marriage to Harold Otis Brunk. Three children were born to this union: Brenda, Brian, and Bruce. They lived several different places before moving to the family farm in 1966. Marilyn helped on the farm and always kept a huge garden. Harold died on September 12, 2018. Marilyn continued to live at home until several weeks ago.
Marilyn loved Sunday morning coffee that always seemed to turn into lunch, with her family. She liked square dancing, gardening, canning, cooking, and working with her flowers. Marilyn enjoyed her monthly lunches with her former bank coworkers.
She is preceded in death by her husband Harold; her parents; and her siblings.
Marilyn is survived her children: Brenda Holtz and husband Roger of Elliott, Brian Brunk and wife Tammy of Griswold, and Bruce Brunk and wife Janet Mae of Griswold; her adopted son Stuart Chamberlain; her grandchildren: Damien, Brandi, Jenny, Alec, Ashley, Logan, and Marquel; and sixteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at 10:30 AM at the Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold. Following the funeral service, a private family interment will take place at the Lowman Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday evening from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM, at the Rieken Duhn Funeral Home. Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is assisting the family.
