(Leon) Doug Berg took runner-up honors in the boys race to lead Nodaway Valley at the Pride of Iowa Conference Cross Country Meet hosted Tuesday by Central Decatur.
The Wolverines posted a team total of 64 points. Berg’s time was 16:46. He was ten seconds behind champion William Gillis, of Central Decatur. Nodaway Valley also had Malachi Broers run 11th, Jaxon Christensen 18th, Gavin Shoemaker 19th, Jevin Christensen 22nd, Ben Piearson 23rd, and Tyler Cooper 24th.
The first runner in for the Nodaway Valley girls was runner-up Jazz Christensen. The freshman was :21 back of Martesdale-St. Marys freshman Ellie Baker. The Wolverines posted a team total of 82 points which landed them in fourth. Annika Nelson and Lily Day finished back-to-back at 13th and 14th. Erin Ford ran 22nd and Hope Kading came in 34th.
Central Decatur won the girls team title with 52 points.
