Timothy “Tim” Alan Ruggles, of Round Rock, TX, formerly of Anita, IA, passed away at St. David’s Round Rock Hospital with family in attendance on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at the age of 65.
Tim is survived by his loving wife Glenora “Glen” Ruggles (nee Baylor) of 46 years; his daughters, Brandi & Krista Ruggles; his six brothers Jim, Larry, Stephen, Wes, Phil, & Bryan Ruggles. He is preceded in death by his sister Jeannie, his mother Betsy, & father Edward “Eddie” Ruggles.
Timothy was born in Anita, Iowa on February 19, 1956 as the sixth son to Edward and Betsy Ruggles. He graduated Anita High School in 1974. Served in the US Army from 1975 to 1978 and then graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Computer Science from St. Edwards University, Austin, TX in 1987. With more than a masters worth of continuing education taken at Austin Community College over the years.
Tim was always a tinkerer, a builder, a learner and grower. He was never satisfied with being idle and always chose to create all he could in as many avenues as he could go down. Granted, what he pursued and what needed to be done often were at odds. He was a jokester and was always looking to make others laugh or to get an exasperated look out of Glen. Tim was never afraid to give his opinion on things and enjoyed a good debate on occasion. He will be remembered as a sharp, hardworking, and fun-loving person. His absence will be felt sorely by all who knew him.
The family would like to extend wholehearted gratitude not only to family and friends, but also to the staff of Texas Oncology Round Rock, Compassus Hospice, and the Oncology department of Round Rock St David’s Medical Center. The professional and competent staff members of those organizations were front-line warriors supporting Tim’s battle with Cancer. Each and every member who dealt with Tim, touched him and us at a personal and meaningful level.
Open visitation with family present will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Anita, IA.
Graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 15, 2021, at Evergreen Cemetery in Anita, IA.
