(Des Moines, IA) — Des Moines police say officers had to call for support when a big crowd surrounded them during an arrest early Sunday morning.
Police say the crowd was hanging around the Court Avenue entertainment district after the bars closed. While they were clearing the streets a handgun was confiscated from a man in the crowd and a second person showed a weapon, then took off running.
Twenty-three-year-old Jvaughn Alexander was arrested while members of the crowd closed in. More officers arrived, the area was cleared, and no injuries were reported.
