(Exira) KSOM/KS95.7 Sports asked Exira-EHK football coach Tom Petersen to think of a player on his team that consistently displays high effort and is very coachable, but might not see a lot of varsity playing time. His response…Jameson Kilworth.
Kilworth admits it feels good to be recognized for what he does for the team. The sophomore backup QB says coaches Travis Nelson and Ben Hansen have taught him a lot. “Coach Hansen is our linemen coach and helps out a lot with defense. He’s been a big help to the linemen getting them prepared and ready and he always helps the defense making sure we are good to go.”
Kilworth has helped lead the JV team to a 2-0 mark this season. He’s seen action at he varsity level as well over the last two years. “It was tough going in as a freshman. I wasn’t that big. It was hard, but it was a lot of fun playing with the older guys and getting to know the game better.”
After looking up to players likes Nick Peppers and Creighton Nelson when he was growing up, it’s an honor to represent the Spartans. “It’s big shoes to fill, but it’s nice being on the team and having to step up and play. As a team we want to improve on the little things and win more games as the years go by.”
Kilworth’s full interview will be aired during halftime of the CAM/Exira-EHK football game broadcast on KSOM. You can listen to it below:
