(Elk Horn) Much of the same personnel is back for Exira-EHK volleyball.
The Spartans return a core of players that have 2-3 years of varsity experience. That group includes Shay Burmeister, Quinn Grubbs, Mollie Rasmussen, Alisa Partridge, Katie Anderson, and Makenzie Riley. Head coach Courtney Peppers says, “We are probably the shortest team around so they have to play pretty big and they are always up for the challenge. They always fight for it and try their hardest to find a way. They just don’t give up. I’ve told the girls as long as they play as hard as they can and leave everything out on the floor and are enjoying it that’s what I want them to get out of it.”
Peppers points out the team is capable of big things if everything comes together. “When they are all on the same page they can really do some amazing things. They’ve also been playing together for years which really helps. When they can put things together they can be a force to be reckoned with.”
She says practice has been going well. “It’s been fun. The girls have been working hard. I think everybody was ready to get rolling again. I have a lot of high expectations for this group. If we can put it all together I think we can be pretty successful.”
So far they’ve been knocking the rust off and fine tuning fundamentals.
