(Audubon) A hearing for a 2nd story loft project, discussion on the fire station, and hiring of a new police officer will be among the agenda items for the Audubon City Council on Monday.
Audubon City Clerk Joe Foran says the 2nd story loft project is through Region XII. “They are going to have a hearing about the project and it’s a requirement before they go out to bid for some of the work. Under new business we have a resolution designating 302 Broadway, which is the property for the loft, as a historical site so they can qualify for some grant money.”
Elsewhere, there has been discussion about a bond issue for the new fire station and those talks will continue. “At this point I think it’s just discussing the next steps in working on the fire station. Basically I think the council needs to decide if they want to go ahead and bond for it now or wait.”
The Council is set to hire an uncertified police officer that will need to go through the academy. It’s been a long process to get back up to full staff on the police department. “I’m sure our Chief feels that way that he’s on the right track to get the whole department full again.”
The position had been vacant since late spring. Other agenda items include a property hearing for 917 Broadway, an order to approve rules and guidelines for Albert the Bull Campground, Resolution 21-33 Approval of Street Finance Report, and Resolution 21-34 Approval of sponsorship for a Friendship Home grant application.
