(Webster City, IA) — Leaders in Hamilton County say the area will not become a so-called Second Amendment “sanctuary.”
Chairman Dan Campidilli of Webster City says they don’t feel there’s a need to take action. He said, “from our understanding, it’s largely symbolic. It’s just a gesture. There’s no teeth behind it.” At least four Iowa counties passed resolutions to keep local authorities from enforcing state or federal laws that may be viewed as infringing on gun rights. Campidilli says the Hamilton County board is supportive of the Second Amendment, but there’s no practical reason to declare the county a sanctuary as it’s “just an attempt to scare gun owners.”
The four sanctuary counties are Cedar, Hardin, Jasper and Madison.
