(Anita) The Griswold softball team improved to 13-1 with a 1-0 non-conference win at CAM on Tuesday.
The Tigers scored their only run in the 4th inning thanks to a couple of CAM errors. They posted five hits in the contest and drew three walks off of Cougar starter Helen Riker who struck out five. Dakota Reynolds had three of the team’s hits including a 2nd inning double. Brenna Rossell also had a double while Anna Kelley singled.
CAM’s scoring chances were limited behind a great effort from Griswold pitcher Karly Millikan. The Cougars had a walk and a hit to make a threat in the 1st, but Millikan retired 11 of the next 13 batters she faced. She gave up five hits, two walks, and struck out 12. It’s the team’s fourth shutout of the season and 2nd in as many nights. They’ve held 10 of their 14 opponents to three runs or less.
Mallory Behnken led CAM with two hits. Kylie Nelson and Lilly Applegate each singled. The Cougars are 7-8.
